This program has been made possible through the kind generosity of Buddha’s Light International Association of Toronto.
This advanced level program has been specifically designed for the experienced settlement worker. The constant challenge for settlement agencies and staff, in particular, is when clients or their families present complex clinical issues, addictions or domestic abuse.
The modules therefore have been carefully planned to cover some of the demanding tasks of dealing with addictions, crisis situations, special clinical issues and domestic violence. Implications for the families and techniques for intervention will be discussed in detail. The program will also cover stress management issues with a special emphasis on «caring for the caregiver».
Completion of the Settlement Practice Certificate Program is a prerequisite to enrol in this program. However, exemption may be made based on experience, education, resume and interview. Please contact Settlement Practice coordinator, Leny Prabhu at leny.prabhu@utoronto.ca.
